Reopening a suspended SAR operation

Page updated: 30 November 2020

If you're the Incident Controller, you can reopen a suspended SAR operation.

Reopen a suspended operation if you discover more SAR activity is needed

You may find more SAR activity is needed after:

  • receiving more information about the incident
  • further analysis of the information you already have about the incident.

You must base your decision to reopen the suspended SAR operation on the conclusions you can draw from analysing new or existing information. Your analysis must indicate further SAR activity is required.

The coordinating authority responsible for the suspended SAR operation is also responsible for reopening it.
