The Framework will guide and support the wider search and rescue sector to achieve and support training and collaboration and provide direct support to NZSAR Council for managing the investment made into training.

This policy describes the NZSAR Awards, the nomination process, and criteria and eligibility for recognition.

The New Zealand Search and Rescue Beacons and Satellite Emergency Notification Devices (SENDs) Guideline 2022 (NZSAR Beacons and SEND Guideline) is a statement developed from the legislative requirements for Search and Rescue in the New Zealand Search and Rescue Region (NZSRR). The NZSAR Beacons and SEND Guideline interprets these requirements with respect to the use of emergency location equipment in the NZSRR.

The NZSAR Council Risk Policy, adopted in August 2018, is based on the ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management - Guidelines standard to support and enable effective search and rescue.

The previous 2013 policy, now replaced by the 2018 policy.

This document outlines how cooperation and collaboration between these two sectors benefit the overall emergency management capability in New Zealand.
