The Council is looking for a person with these characteristics:

  1. Have a sound, practical understanding of the SAR sector.
  2. Be able to take a non-conflicted, non-partisan approach to matters before the Council.
  3. Possess skill or experience at the governance level.
  4. Have an affinity to the voluntary part of the SAR sector (desirable but not mandatory).
  5. Be willing and able to meet with the SAR non-governmental organisations to understand their views and issues.
  6. Be capable and willing to speak to the collected views of the SAR non-governmental organisations sector as appropriate within the NZSAR Council.
  7. Be available to meet with the NZSAR Council, the NZSAR Consultative Committee and SAR Partnership meetings at least three times annually, and additional meetings by agreement.
  8. Be discreet and act with integrity. (Note: no security clearance is required.)

If you are interested in this influential role, please send a letter of application and your CV to the NZSAR Secretariat Director at info@nzsar.govt.nz.

Applications close Friday 27 October 2023.  The successful applicant will be notified following the Council meeting mid December 2023.
