Now available: NZSAR Annual report 2021-22

The NZ Search and Rescue annual report for 2021-22 summarises the activities of our sector, with statistics, key insights and feature articles on the highlights. 

The NZSAR Annual Report 2021-22 celebrates the dedication of the 11,225 people in the sector, each who contribute a vital part to the mission. 

Together, they have responded to a total of 3,268 incidents, saved 150 lives, rescued 715 people and assisted 799 people. 

This year, the government invested $42.1 million in search and rescue. With 150 lives saved, $660 million in social costs has been averted – a 16:1 benefit to cost ratio.

Alongside the reports and figures are articles that illustrate the detail of the sector's work and achievements.  These include the sector's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the development of coastal search and rescue capabilities, volunteer support and SAR research.
